Multiple Barriers to Healthcare and Affordable Education
Orphans and vulnerable children in remote communities struggle to access safe and affordable education. Women and girls can not always obtain hygiene and sanitary products. Limited access to advanced medical services prevents some patients from receiving necessary healthcare and can leave families at risk.
Facility Upgrades and Health Resources Support Community Wellbeing
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to fund improvements to facilities at Shine Preparatory School, including installation of a flush toilet, installation of solar lights, and the purchase of textbooks and school furniture. The donation was also used for two efforts that support health needs and community wellbeing. First, it provided reusable sanitary pads to girls, enabling them to access cheaper, eco-friendly menstrual hygiene materials. Second, it funded assistance for Stephen, a 39-year-old driver with a family of 11 people, who has been paralyzed by disease since 2022. The donation helped fund Stephen’s ongoing access to medical review and care, get food relief and some hygiene supplies for his family, and keep his children in school.
