Lack of Clean Water and Sanitation for Children in Conflict Situations
Conflict-affected areas of South Sudan have critical water, sanitation, and hygiene needs. St. Clare Orphanage houses and cares for children who had been living on the street. As the orphanage continues to develop its facilities, new latrines were needed to support health conditions for the children.
Latrines and Supplies Improve Health and Security for Orphans
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to improve the existing latrine and add a hand washing station at St. Clare Orphanage, which reduces open defecation and promotes hygiene practices. The funding also purchased supplies to help the orphanage care for children, including cleaning supplies, maize flour, red lentils, cooking oil, diapers, soap, sugar, and beans.
