Children Need a Safe and Secure Place to Learn and Grow
Mwihoko has a population of approximately 150,000 as of 2024. Residents face significant economic challenges, with many earning below $2 per day. Creating safe spaces for children is crucial for their overall development and well-being. Safe environments protect children from physical harm, abuse, and neglect, fostering a sense of security and stability. These spaces also provide opportunities for learning, creativity, and social interaction, essential for cognitive and emotional growth. In safe spaces, children can express themselves freely, build confidence, and develop resilience. Ensuring children have access to such environments is fundamental to their health, education, and future prospects, contributing to a more equitable and prosperous society.
Community Center Provides a Safe Space for Children
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to build a safe space at Kiserem Epilepsy Foundation where children can come for after school tutoring, reading, and mentoring. At this facility, children can also get guidance and counselling and open up to talk about their feelings and what may be troubling them at home, school, or in their personal lives.
