Effective HIV Care Requires Access to Healthcare and Nutrition

Access to quality healthcare is essential for the well-being and survival of orphans, vulnerable children, and disadvantaged community members. However, many face significant challenges in accessing medical care due to financial constraints, limited healthcare facilities, and inadequate medical supplies. In addition, proper nutrition is crucial for the health and recovery of children undergoing medical treatment, especially those affected by chronic illnesses, malnutrition, or living with HIV. Many vulnerable children face severe food insecurity, which weakens their immune systems and reduces the effectiveness of medical treatments.

The recent suspension of USAID support to government hospitals has severely impacted healthcare access, leading to critical shortages of essential medicines and nutritional supplies. As a result, more patients, including people living with HIV and malnourished children, are turning to NAYO for treatment, overwhelming our already limited resources.

Critical Medications Support Care for Patients

The donation from Luena Foundation was used to procure vital medicines such as antibiotics and analgesics. This support has ensured that patients on Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and those requiring palliative care receive the treatment they need. The donation also allowed NAYO to provide supplementary food to improve the health and well-being of children living with HIV.
