Civil War Leaves Children at Risk
The crisis in South Sudan has created significant challenges for normal living conditions and delivery of humanitarian aid. Access to essential services (e.g. healthcare, food, and sanitation) is severely limited, particularly in high-conflict/high-displacement areas. St. Clare Orphanage has been established to house and care for children who have been displaced and orphaned as a result of the conflict. Many children in orphanages often face malnutrition due to insufficient food supplies. Access to clean water is another pressing concern, as contaminated sources lead to health issues.
Supplies and Improved Sanitation Support Health and Wellbeing
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to provide essential support in the form of food, clean water, medicine, mosquito nets, charcoal, and improvements to sanitation facilities. The provision of medicine ensures that children receive necessary healthcare, while mosquito nets are crucial in protecting them from malaria and other insect-borne diseases. Charcoal provides a source of energy for cooking, enhancing daily living conditions. Moreover, improving latrines is vital for sanitary practices, contributing to better health outcomes for the children. Through this donation, the Luena Foundation aims to foster a nurturing environment where every child can thrive, ultimately paving the way for a brighter future. Together, we can create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most.
