Family at Risk in Remote Community
Stephen (a 39-year-old driver with a family of 11 people) was paralyzed by disease (Tuberculus Spondylitis) in mid-2022 and was referred to the national referral hospital in Kampala, more than 400 km away, for advanced care. This distance presents a major barrier to Stephen receiving the advanced healthcare that he needs. Moreover, with Stephen unable to continue working, the family has struggled to meet basic needs.
Care and Supplies Provide Some Stability for Family
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to help Stephen access medical review and care and to get food relief and some hygiene supplies for his family. The donation also provided scholastic materials for Stephen’s children, who attend Shine Preparatory School for free, so that they can stay in school.
