Lack of Clean Water for Internally Displaced Persons
Due to the conflict in South Sudan, many people have been forced to leave their homes and are now living as internally displaced persons (IDPs) in refugee camps. Camp 3 in Juba needed access to clean water.
Access to Clean Water Improves Sanitation and Hygiene Practices
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to reconstruct a broken access point for clean water at Camp 3. In addition, technicians were on-site to teach local residents best practices and general plumbing skills to improve the camp’s water access, sanitation, and hygiene. Learning simple repair techniques has empowered camp residents to operate and maintain the water supply system, thus ensuring long-term sustainability. The financial support and collaboration have resulted in significant improvements in the lives of beneficiaries, fostering health, dignity, and hope for a brighter future for a displaced people in camps.
