Marginalized Neighborhood Has Limited School Facilities and Resources
Mawoh, with a population of over 1,100 inhabitants, is a very hilly community, with a hot climate. It currently has no health facility, and most residents are either farmers or traders with very few having jobs that pay well. It remains one of the marginalized neighborhoods within the municipality, although it has a primary school with 156 pupils currently enrolled and 5 teachers. The school is located on a hilltop about 400m above the community with dilapidated wooden classrooms, an open toilet, and above all, very inadequate literacy and numeracy teaching and learning supplies.
Supplies Improve Learning Experience for Students
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to purchase school supplies to upgrade the quality of teaching and learning in Mawoh Primary School. Items included school benches, chairs and tables, learning charts, plywood for blackboards, nails, assorted textbooks, writing chalk, water buckets, and drinking cups for all classes.
