As the Siege on Gaza Neared the One Year Point, Khan Younis Faced a Harsh Winter and a Deepening Humanitarian Crisis

By October 2024, Gaza had been under siege for nearly a year, with the humanitarian situation worsening as winter approached. In Khan Younis, once a refuge for displaced families, conditions had deteriorated into a desperate struggle for survival. Months of Israel’s relentless bombardment and blockade had left infrastructure in ruins, with hospitals overwhelmed, food supplies dwindling, and clean water increasingly scarce. As temperatures dropped, families—many living in makeshift shelters or the open—faced the added threat of cold, illness, and malnutrition. Children, already suffering from trauma and severe psychological distress, were among the most vulnerable. With inadequate shelter, medical care, and access to education, an entire generation was being shaped by fear and deprivation, their futures increasingly uncertain.

Luena Foundation and Kinder Relief Provide 250 Winter Blankets to Families in Gaza’s Asda’a Camp

The donation from Luena Foundation was used to purchase and distribute 200 high-quality, army-style blankets for families in Asda’a Camp in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, Gaza. Kinder Relief contributed an additional 50 blankets to the effort. These exceptionally warm blankets will provide critical support as winter approaches, helping to cover half of the camp’s residents. We are eager to expand our support for refugees in Gaza and other vulnerable communities worldwide.
