Services at Risk Due to Loss of Land Lease
Harmony Children’s Foundation serves children and widows in a rural community that is supported almost entirely by subsistence farming. The foundation had been leasing land to provide services, and the owners of the land asked Harmony to either buy the land or vacate it. This was a challenging period because many families would suffer further without Harmony’s support if the foundation was unable to buy the land.
Land Allows Long-Term Home for Harmony Children’s Foundation
The donation from Luena Foundation was added to other funds collected from the community of Harmony itself that they managed to raise through their small-scale farming, fundraising projects, and donations in order to purchase the land where Harmony Children’s Foundation works. When Harmony gained this land, we got a permanent home for our people where they can have shelter and practice agriculture for their survival. We are also looking forward to establishing proper permanent buildings for a school that will enhance quality education for our children.
