Limited Food Access Causes Challenges for Education
Students often come to school without having eaten, and they have become malnourished over time. Hunger and malnutrition make it difficult to concentrate on their studies. As result of the area where the school is situated, it is possible to acquire all vegetables locally. However, due to the number of students served at Shine Preparatory School, it is more cost-efficient to produce some crops to support the school-based feeding program.
Student Nutrition Improves Health and Focus
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to purchase land that Shine Preparatory School can cultivate for agricultural development. This will allow the school to grow many of the vegetables needed for the school-based feeding program that supports student well-being and educational success.
