Lack of Medication Leaves Children Vulnerable
Chifundo Epilepsy Foundation was founded in 2019 with the mission of defeating epilepsy in children and women in underserved communities. We have 600 beneficiaries, including 200 children who rely on our Epilepsy Clinics for their life-saving antiseizure medication. Without access to antiepileptic drugs, vulnerable children are prone to accidents, and they drop out of school due to frequent seizures. Some children experience 50 seizures or more daily without medication.
New Medication Supply Allows Students to Attend School
For six months, our clinic had been without any supply of antiseizure medication, which was a great challenge. During this period, we lost many lives due to frequent uncontrolled seizures. The donation from Luena Foundation provided the antiseizure medication that can save lives. We are happy to help more children gain their milestone, and they are now in school seizure free.
