Critical Need for Affordable Healthcare
Nancholi is a small rural district nestled in the hills surrounding the city of Blantyre, the second largest city in Malawi. Health care, education, and gender equality are huge issues throughout Malawi, particularly in rural areas such as Nancholi. Nancholi Youth Organization (NAYO) operates a healthcare facility that provides a range of clinical services, including Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and palliative care. Importantly, these services are provided free of charge, which is crucial for many of our patients, especially those in palliative care who cannot afford the high costs of private hospitals. Private facilities often charge far more than our patients can afford, making NAYO’s clinic an essential resource in the community.
Medication Supply Supports Effective Healthcare Services
The donation from Luena Foundation was used to purchase essential medical drugs for NAYO Clinic, including medications used for Antiretroviral Therapy and to support patients who are receiving palliative care. Children receiving outpatient care have also been able to access the necessary treatments. This support has made a significant difference in the lives of many, ensuring that the community receives the quality healthcare it deserves.
